Licensing and Trial
Understand the exact Filament trial restrictions, seat policy, and where your license key lives.
Licensing and Trial
Filament ships as one desktop app for both trial and paid use. You do not install a separate "pro" build.
What the trial includes
The trial keeps the full editor, project workflow, routing tools, and player surface available so you can evaluate Filament on your real setup.
Exact trial restrictions
The trial has two enforced restrictions:
- All exports are disabled
- Live output is disrupted every 20 seconds
Those are runtime-enforced product limits. The desktop runtime applies the output disruption before DMX send and before the preview/player mirroring path.
What a paid license unlocks
A valid paid license unlocks:
- project export
- Resolume project export
- fixture export
- uninterrupted live output
Seat policy
Each paid Filament license can remain activated on up to 2 machines at the same time.
If you replace or lose a machine:
- remove the license from the old installation when possible
- use the customer portal to recover your key and manage billing
- contact support if you need help freeing a seat
Where your key lives
Filament's dashboard is your stable entry point for downloads, help, and portal access.
Polar remains the canonical source of truth for:
- your raw license key
- invoices
- billing history
That means the Filament dashboard may summarize your access state, but it does not pretend to be the authoritative source of the key itself.
